Intuition & Leadership: The Art of Wise Decision Making
In the past, mystics, shamans, visionaries and leaders have appeared to access powers traditionally thought to be beyond the reach of the common person. Current multidisciplinary research into the areas of science, psychology and anthropology support the notion that powers once thought to be in the realm of mystics are potentially available to those who wish to develop the skill.
To explore this topic I researched ancient wisdom through the perspectives of anthropology, indigenous knowledge and shamanism combined with quantum physics and cognitive science and their applicability in modern time for wise decision-making within organizations. As a Grandmother I am very concerned about the health and well being of living systems of people and our planet and I wanted to explore the best tools possible within the knowledge available.
Ancient Wisdom
In indigenous societies, the primary keeper of ancient wisdom is the shaman. According to the Tungus of Siberia, the root meaning of shaman is "to know." This individual may also be referred in the community as a healer, wizard, seer or sage (Walsh, 1990, p.8). The shaman is considered an explorer of human consciousness in which he/she enters through altered states or trance, to connect with both inner and outer sources of wisdom.
Foundational to the indigenous and shamanic perspective is a holistic worldview of a living universe. Looking through this lens the "whole universe is ablaze wit energy - a vibration flowing, ebbing and pulsing. One of the common hallmarks of a genuine mystical experience is a sense of unity in which all boundaries between self and the other dissolve (Some, 1999, p.73).
Shaman's worlds and levels are ore than interconnected; they are believed to interact with one another. Shamans believe that these interactions can be perceived and affected by one who knows how to do so and that is the Shaman . . . like the spider at the center of a cosmic web, can feel and influence distant relms.
New Science
New Science is a complex field of study rooted in quantum physics which is the study of the subatomic world of electrons, particles and waves. This quantum world is mysterious, even to scientists and since rsearch first began in the early nineteen hundreds its slowly been influencing the the Western Worldview of reality. New Science is the study of holisms or living systems and is focused on inter-relationships and interconnections verses the Mechanistic Worldview which sees fragments, separation is devoid of the essence of life.
